Unfortunately, due to the severe rainstorm this morning (Wednesday 23 September), the lift to Screen 1 is out of order and expected to be so until at least next week.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. An engineer is currently assessing the lift, and we will be working with them over the coming days as a matter of urgency.

You may receive a further email from us if you’ve booked a wheelchair space for any upcoming screening in Screen 1, or for our upcoming Bring Your Own Baby screenings, with further information on how best we can support you in this time. As a precaution, all unsold wheelchair tickets have been removed from sale until Sunday 4 October.

We will provide a further update on Friday 2 October or when the lift is fixed, whichever one comes first.

Screen 1 is on the first floor of Filmhouse and is accessible via 31 steps, with landings every 5 or 6 steps and handrails on both sides. Screen 1 is then entered from two rear upper entrances, closest to Row L.

In Screen 1, there are 20 shallow steps from Row A to Row J, this consists of two shallow steps between rows A to B, B to C, C to D, and three shallow steps between rows E to F, F to G, G to H and H to J. There are handrails on the wall, one on the right side of the cinema and one on the left side respectively.

When entering from the main entrance at the back of the cinema, Row L is 4 steps up to seating, and Row K is 2 steps up to the seating. Row L has a single handrail; Row K does not have a handrail.

There are toilets on the same level as the back of the cinema, these can be accessed by going through the two cinema doors, around the corner, through an open door, and down 4 steps. The nearest accessible toilet is on the ground floor.
